Spiritual Graduation…

As I am sitting here at my son’s graduation from Elementary school my mind began to think on how he is moving from one level to the next.  He will be in middle school next year which will come with more challenges and battles which he did not experience in elementary school.

How many of you believe that we have spiritual levels that we climb to progress to a higher level of spirituality and Christianity than we were before?  Often times God will test us in order to move us from one level to the next.  The writer of Hebrews speaks to this in chapter 5 verse 12.

“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.”

Babies need milk because their digestive system can’t handle strong meat.  But as they grow and are able to handle stronger foods then they are able to move up and digest stronger foods.

The same it is with God’s word.  We must be able to move beyond the similac of God’s word to a T-Bone steak of doctrine.

Once we are able to handle the smaller things in God’s word we will be able to handle some of the weightier matters and become mature in the Word!

  1. That was a great one. I literally was just thinking to myself how much easier it was just being a pew member. I got the word I participated in activities but there was little to NO STRIFE in my Christian walk. However during that time I wasn’t growing spiritually I was stagnant which is why I set out to do more kingdom work because I wanted to progress. Like you said new heights bring about new challenges.

  2. Thank you for the word. This is true in every aspect of our lives, we must grow up. Be ready to reach the levels where God has amazing plans for us. We will find some growing pains but the joy of being in the hands of God makes it all worth it. Be blessed.
