Old Fashioned Prayer Meeting…

Remember when we had prayer meeting?  The church members would come together at a specific time.  Either before bible study or just because and they would JUST PRAY!

The deacons would get on one knee and pray.  The mission sisters and mothers of the church would pray.  They would call on the Lord for guidance, help and comfort.  What happened to old fashioned prayer meetings?

Acts 12:12 states, “And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.”

Peter was in prison about to be executed. The angel of God released him. When he thought of the first place to go after the miraculous escape.  It was a prayer meeting.

The congregation of Peter decided instead of gossiping, trying to find out what happened, or nothing at all, that they would come together and PRAY!  The reason why our churches are in turmoil is because we don’t come together collectively and pray for one another.  We hate on one another, talk about one another, abuse one another, tear down one another, gossip on one another, slander one another…but how many of us PRAY for one another?

Prayer is the key to success in the Kingdom of God. Not just corporately but individually as well.

So next time there is a prayer meeting, you should find yourself in the house of the Lord praying. We come for food, musicals, concerts, and everything else.  But we won’t come to pray
