There is a growing number of millennials that are leaving the church. They are not leaving Christ but the culture of worship and service that the traditional church provides. Millennials are those who were born from 1980 through 2010.
For millennials, even the term "church" is antique and symbolizes something that is old and worn out. They want a change from the way that has been done to a more contemporary way to worship God.
Millennials are more mission and action oriented and shy away from just coming to worship, singing, praying and hearing a sermon. Millennials want to see action and they want to go. There are pros and cons of this type of work in the Kingdom and we as church leaders should find a way to encourage the
work of the church while not sacrificing the holiness of the text and mission.
When you find millennials that are leaving the church you will find that some of it is based on the lack of mission in the vision of the church and they want a culture of action oriented ministry.
They are tired of meetings and annuals. They are tired of inward mission and a lack of community needs.
They want to go into the community, help the poor, dealing with the issues of the day. They want to attack the issues at hand with a look at the scriptures is support of the mission.
For many of our churches how many millennials are in leadership to where their voices and opinions are a part of the culture of the church. Are we losing our grip with millennials?
Just a question!

I agree with you that millennials are action ministry minded. I have 2 sons who grew up active in the church who don’t feel led to attend church regularly now. They both enjoy outreach activities and a good bible class during the week. But, Sunday morning worship they feel is a routine activity in tradition.
