Leading people you don’t Like…

I know this may sound a little cruel or harsh but the harsh reality is that Leadership is not emotional! In my years of leadership I have learned that there are people who don’t like you and there are people you don’t like. You can apply an emotional principle to people who you invite over to your house to fellowship or play cards, but when it comes to leading, you can’t pick or choose who you lead!

If we could pick who we lead we will choose a group of people who get along with us, side with us, laugh with us and likes us. But one thing I have realized is that the Shepherd doesn’t pick his Sheep! In Matthew 5:46 he tells us, “For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?” There is no reward in serving, leading, liking and loving just those who love you!
If we are to model Christ we must accept that OUR PURPOSE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUR PRIDE!

We may not like everybody but we are commanded to LOVE everybody! God said that our love for one another supersedes anything else that comes in our lives. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 states, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Are you willing to Lead those you don’t like?
