I have moved several times in my life. Some moves have occurred within the city and some moves have been outside of the city. Each move is because I either NEEDED or WANTED to move. The one thing I noticed about moving is that when I moved I packed everything up and I did not leaving anything behind that I wanted or needed to take. The things that were of no use to me, I got rid of them or gave it away. Well what are you saying? I am saying that sometimes when we move on…we need to only take the things that are beneficial to us and leave the rest behind.
Philippians 3:13-14 states, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Paul tells us that if we are to move forward to where God would want us to be we need to forget the things that are behind us and PRESS FORWARD! Too often we spend too much time on the past and the pain that it has caused us that we fail to forge ahead. We get paralyzed in our past! God is ready to do a NEW thing in your life. I am not saying to forget your past or to pretend it never happened but don’t affect your future blessings with some old burdens.
What I have learned in the moving process is that some of my old furniture doesn’t look or go good in my new house!
My God! My new house is not shaped the same or have the same features as my old house. So that means that there are some things that looked good in the old house that won’t look good in the new house.
Take this with you! Too often we are missing out on what God has for us with the new chapters in our lives because we are holding on to old stuff. Let Go and Let God!
