Paul tells us in Philippians 3:13 – “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
I am learning to “let go”. But as I was thinking about this concept there are different ways that you can let things go. One will hurt and one will not. Let me explain.
Have you ever seen two people hold a rope and they are each pulling with their hardest might creating a tension on the rope? But when one person let’s go and they both fall with force because their weight was fighting against the other.
There also is another scenario where you are holding on to a rope without tension and you just let it go and the rope falls to the ground and you don’t lose your balance.
Well I have learned that if I am fighting or tugging against what I am holding on to or who I am holding on to then when I let go there will be a great fall with risk of injury or hurt. But if I just let go of what I am holding on to without the fight or tension then it will just fall but I don’t go with it.
I don’t know what you are holding on to…Past hurts, offenses, bitterness, anger, jealousy, etc. but it is time to stop pulling the weight of the burden and just let go freely knowing that God will be there to help you pick up the pieces without falling. When you trust in God, you can let go of stuff that causes you unrest in your life.
Let Go! Let God! Drop your Rocks! Hold to His hands and not your Hurt!
