As I taught at the Congress today in Kansas City we jumped on the subject of commitment. It was asked how do you encourage people who use excuses as a reason not to evangelize or do the work of ministry. This is the sad indictment of the church – that we don’t finish the work and/or mandate to make disciples.
I told them that in order to know where you are going…you must know where you have come from. If you are going to make disciples. You must realize that you have been made a disciple.
God saw in you a good work that he enables us to do by His power and not our power. We have lost the zeal to make disciples. We sit back and want a relaxed Christianity. But we should be like the church in Acts 17:6 that was indicted on “turning the world upside down”
I am committing myself, my life, my witness and my testimony to Christ. Notice that I did not say committed to the church but committed to Christ. If I commit to Christ, I will commit to everything in my life. Matthew 6:33 states, “seek ye first the kingdom of God and everything else will be added unto you”. If you commit to Christ- You will commit to your ministry, commit to your marriage, commit to your church, commit to your vocation, commit to your calling and commit to the work of the church and the Kingdom.
If you know God has been good to you. There is a Cause to Commit! Be blessed!

OMG!! I have been in a 2 day discussion with a friend about how the church seems to be missing the mark in discipleship. I had to remind him that WE are the church and we are supposed to go, not sit and wait to see if people will come seeking Jesus at the building. I’m sharing this message with him to help further our discussion. Thanks for sharing.
