Ye shall be my Witness…

As I was pondering on the blog this morning my doorbell rang.  I was thinking it was someone selling something and I was reluctant to open it.  I opened it and it was two African-American women who wanted to read and share the gospel of hope with me.  They asked if I read scripture any and I said, “All the time.  I am a pastor”. They said that is good and asked what church.  I told them.  We had good dialogue and it wasn’t until the end that they informed me that they were Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Even invited me to their Kingdom Hall.  I doubt I will ever go. But it made me realize how much we as Christians are NOT spreading the gospel in its fullest capacity.

It is easy for us to spread the gospel in churches because that is comfortable for us. But how many of us Christians are dedicated to spreading the gospel door to door as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ sent those out to do. One of my favorite scripture as it relates to purpose is Acts 1:8 when the Lord said, “Ye shall be my witnesses!”   A witness is asked to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.  We don’t have to add nor take away from what God has given us in His Word, Will, Way and through Experience with God.

Our Commission is to “Go ye therefore and make disciples”. Matt 28:18-20. What are you doing to carry out the mandate to make disciples?  How much of your life are you committing to evangelizing?  Are you comfortable with receiving God’s blessings but not sharing His blessings?

I pray that we can be zealous as some are. But zealous towards the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The one who died, suffered and bled.  But He saved you and I.

Will you be a witness?!

  1. Amazing Blog this morning!!!!!Bless you Pastor O

  2. The thing about their witnessing is that they witness in spite of the weather conditions. What would happen if we as God’s people would witness in spite of________you fill in the blank.

  3. Amen
